I decided not to vote. It’s raining out. The polling place is a block away and my hair is a mess to begin with. It would get worse if it gets misted on. Plus, I don’t like knowing that people can see me when I’m walking down rhe street.

You laugh derisively, but I bet if an MS-13 gang member somehow were made to answer a queztion about why he didn’t vote in the US elrctions he would say something like it.

      @Whole Earth Catalog

I get claustrophobic in those little voting booths. Plus once I registered to vote and they tried to give me jury duty. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

    >YFW your right wing roommate drags you to the polls and tells you to vote for the Republicans.
    >You practice your best ‘all American accent.’
    >Your fake ID works & you manage to register and vote.

You guys have no idea how easy voter fraud is. Utility bill? Check. Fake ID? check. Now you are registered to vote. Also, I am honestly surprised at how loud Americans are when talking about who they’re voting for in those mini-ballot-booth things. I could hear & see multiple husbands telling their wives who to vote for.

INB4 u just did something horribly illegal – eh, I’m going to get all the gigglez in that I can before I have to leave.

I’ve been registered to vote three times, in three different states, and I don’t remember ever showing an ID. I believe twice I showed a card that was mailed to me. The first time I registered and voted, I thought, wow, this would be easy to fake.

I think I’ve actually voted twice. Most Americans who are legally eligible to vote don’t, and who can blame them?

No joke: I just did what my roommate told me and at the ‘register to vote’ booth I handed my ID over and a 60 or so year-old woman did the rest for me.

I mostly wanted to do it for the bragging rights. I have never voted in my own country.

Most Americans who are legally eligible to vote don’t, and who can blame them?

I sympathize with them. Americans are put in a uniquely bad position due to the ridiculous two-party system. I’ve long believed that the only way Americans can overcome that system is by forming regional party (there could be a Texas Party, a New England Party, etc.).

My Mum is a die-hard “Demonrat” (*insert smiling Dinesh D’Souza picture here*) supporter, and she said that she would only mail my ballot (she sends all the family members’ ballots at once) if I voted Dem.

I therefore decided not to vote at all (even though I could have just mailed it myself, but I’m a lazy SOB).

I think my brother also didn’t vote, but he’s generally quite the nihilist, so that’s to be expected.

Nihilism? Say what you will about the tenets of National Socialism, at least it’s an ethos.

Realism. National Socialism isn’t my thing, but it was a movement built in the bars and streets and only entered institutionalized politics when it had accumulated considerable real power. I don’t think the same situation obtains here and now.

      My two cents:

Hitler had some good ideas (especially about propaganda) but National Socialism as an ideology has no relevance in America. If anything, it’s actually a self defeating ideology because it ascribes de facto supernatural powers to Jews.

Here’s Joseph Goebbels speaking about Jews:

…The Jew is the lie that became flesh. He nailed Christ to the cross, and thus for the first time in history nailed the eternal truth to the cross.

…it would be better for us to go down with Bolshevism than live in eternal slavery under capitalism.

…Never have we left anyone in doubt that National-Socialism is not for export.

      https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Joseph_Goebbels

      Two takeaways:

      1. They knew they shouldn’t export their ideology.

      2. Do they really sound like the type of people you’d want to live under? They sound like unhinged Catholics with PTSD from WWI.

It can be funny to meme about being a Nazi baddie but as a serious ideology? No. It was based off of seeing Jews as de facto possessed by demons and Hitler made similar claims about the ‘Freemasons who rule America and Britain’ (the speech is on YouTube and the German is correctly translated).

They also wanted to eliminate private property. Their ideology was basically racist & anti-Semitic Bolshevism + Catholic stereotypes.

I think a clarification is in order. You only need an excuse if you *DID* vote for one of these crooked politicians. If you voted you have no right to complain.

I know, people like to say if you didn’t vote you have no right to complain. But where’s the logic in that? If you voted for one of these politicians and they get into office and screw things up, you can’t complain. You voted them in.

I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who didn’t even leave the house on election day, can complain all I want about the mess you people made by voting that I had nothing to do with.

So, if you did vote – what’s your excuse?
